You're probably visiting this site using Internet Explorer.
And to that I say, "I'm sorry."
Try out a different browser for your internet needs. One that isn't exploited by hackers and open to the random nefarious syware or adware. Use something that can actually speed up your web browsing.
Use Mozilla's Firefox web browser.
It takes up less space that IE, it runs faster and it has a lot of features that you can download to make your browsing more enjoyable. I've installed three plugins for it and have numerous "themes." The weather plugin is great. I also highly recommend the Abe Vigoda Status bar (if he dies, you'll be one of the first to know, after him of course!) .
Check the right hand column to download it.
What makes Firefox so great is that it doesn't have the bulky overhead that Internet Explorer has in order to operate. It also doesn't use up a whole heck of a lot of resources. For example, when I'm running Internet Explorer, it's taking 33 percent of the CPU cycles while running the website www.Macromedia.com. Firefox, on the other hand, uses 24.
Big difference, you say in a sarcastic tone. If you have very little RAM, it is actually a pretty big difference.
One of the other things is the exploits that riddle Internet Explorer. Because IE doesn't use the standards that were set up by the W3C, anyone can slap a malicious piece of code on their site and potentially take over your computer.
Is Internet Explorer a browser you should "kick to the curb?" I would. But some websites demand that you only use IE. As stupid as those sites are (coughcoughqupie.comcoughcough), they might be necessary. So keep it, but once you start using Firefox, you'll be loath to go back to IE. |
